From left to right: Fred Brooks, Jr.; Me; David Lorge Parnas. These two old guys are essentially the founding fathers of Software Engineering. Fred Brooks wrote the largely influential “The Mythical Man-Month”, which was the first book to take a serious look at software as an engineering discipline. David Parnas was one of the pioneers of Object-Oriented and modular programming, and was preaching it way back before most people had heard of it.
