Monkey Knife Fight!

Posted by Skrud at Monday, December 12th 2005 at 9:00pm

The Minimal vs. Humane Interfaces thing seemed to generate a lot of discussion, and once instance of Behrouz telling me to get laid.

Either way, there’s a great play-by-play overview of the discussion in Ruby Advent Calendar Day Nine: Monkey Knife Fight! by Joey deVilla that sums up opinions from various other people and presents a lot of sides to the same discussion.

If you’re still thinking about it, it’s a great read :D

I noticed that the author of Rails David Heinemeier Hansson is going to be in CUSEC 2006 (January 19-21, see Skrud’s link on the right). Maybe he will touch this point as well.

By the way Skrud, I apologize for my previous comment: it was rather unnecessary… I hope I didn’t offend you in any way. :)

^^ Nah, I _do_ need to get laid. In the meantime, I’ll think about which software interfaces I like better.

I would like to suggest an INhumane interface. It goes out of its way to obfuscate and destroy any conventions you’re used to.

Each subsequent compilation of your program will not only recompile your code, but obfuscate your source. Method names and accessors will change willy nilly!

He sounds pretty cool, and maybe we can have someone ask him that question ;)

aha, not me though, cose i’ll be hosting him :)

Nah I want to ask why on rubyforge he has 6 in nearly everything but only 4 in Teamwork/Attitude and if he’s really that hard to work with ;)

Methinks you shoud just catch up with him over a beer. :)
