Fantasia Frenzy

Naturally, I’m not the only geek in the city who decided that since tickets go on sale today for Fantasia that I must purchase them all immediately and in bulk. (You see, if you buy 10 tickets then they’re only $6 a piece as oppose to $7.50 which means you save $15 for every 10 tickets you buy). Last year, one could only take advantage of this deal buy tickets at the Concordia Hall building so needless to say the place was packed today. I arrived just shortly after 2pm when the sale started, and found myself at the end of a line longer than the one I sat in for Episode I or Episode II. Ridiculous. On top of that, being geeks, everyone is ordering tickets in denominations of 50 or 100 which is far too great a capacity for Montreal’s fragile “Admission”:http://www.admission.com network to handle. Finally they announced to everyone that the 10 tickets for $60 deal was avaiable at all admission outlets and that we should try moving to the Bay or something, because it takes forever to print out 100 tickets. By this point I had run into a character named Josh, and accompanied him to The Bay where we waited in another line that was moving even slower, but we were closer to the front. Then they told us we should start heading down the Spectrum because the Bay, with it’s one-computer ticket office couldn’t handle printing up so many tickets. So we moved to Spectrum… more lines. But still fewer people and there were two people serving tickets this time. But still, all of us geeks with our detailed lists of all the shows we wanted to go to… it takes quite a while. And then there were people who wanted tickets to Jazz Festival shows that had to deal with the excess of Fantasia fans swarming the area. Finally I got my tickets around 4:45pm and headed home. (During this entire endeavour, I nearly finished reading “An Artist of the Floating World”:http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/0571209130/qid=1089152114/ref=sr8xsap_i5xgl14/701-3215586-8759560 by Kazuo Ishiguro - only a few pages to go).
As for the band practice, well it doesn’t look like they’re all willing to meet me just yet and would rather I audition for them next week or maybe the week after. That’s fine by me but I was kind of looking forward to whole thing. (At least this way I get more practice and risk less suckage). Now to just hope their practice times don’t conflict with my Fantasia shows over the next couple of weeks :(
Update: Turns out I get to “audition” tomorrow. Wish me luck! (I will suck). That rhymes.

You should have just stayed at the Hall building for tickets. It took me about 2 hours in line to get my tix.
Anyway, hope you got your free videos when you bought your set of 10 tickets. Have fun!
Nope but I did get vouchers for 3 free videos :)
woo woo! Good luck Skrud! Rock out as hard as you can.
Weren’t you supposed to read that book for Maggie’s class a year ago or something?
Yeah, and I got 6/7 in that course despite never having read it. I never read Tracks either. I never finished that Irish novel, and I don’t even remember what the fourth thing we read that semester was.
